After three and half hours and much debate, Auburn is one step closer to housing either a Wal Mart or Costco after the Placer County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the Bohemia Retail Project today.
The site to be developed by Jim Conkey and located in North Auburn on Highway 49, will include a 155,000 square foot store -- most likely either one of the aforementioned super-sized stores. The project has raised the ire of local citizens who, under the group Alliance for the Protection of the Auburn Community Environment (APACE), appealed the project after it approved by the Placer County Planning Commission in July.
