Placer Co. Sheriff Deputy to receive Medal Valor from Schwarzenegger

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Attorney General Jerry Brown will present 10 California peace officers with the Public Safety Officer Medal of Valor at a Capitol ceremony tomorrow morning.

Placer County Sheriff Deputy Ken Skogen will be among the honorees for his brave rescue of an elderly woman from her burning house during the 49 Fire in Auburn last August. 

The other officers receiving the Medal of Valor include:
- Officers Rodney Richards and Jason Smith, California Highway Patrol
- Sheriff Tom Allman, Mendocino County Sheriff's Office
- Detective Eric Bradley, Lodi Police Department
- Captain Kevin Raffaelli and Officers Rick Apecechea, Jeff Dellinges and Roberto Gonzalez, San Mateo Police Department
- Officer Kelley Merritt, Susanville Police Department

The ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. in the State Capitol in the Governor's Council Room.
