The South Placer Rotary Club is delivering a better holiday this year for 18 Rocklin families and 40 children.

In partnership with the Rocklin Fire Department, Rocklin Public Safety Volunteers and the Rocklin Unified School District, the club will provide a total of more than $6,000 in gifts and clothing to the families this holiday season.

“We are honored to be able to help these families in need and make this holiday a better one, particularly for the 40 children impacted by the donations,” said Mark Siemens, who headed up the Rotary’s effort this year. “All of this is made possible through the generosity of community members and our South Placer Rotary Club’s major fundraising events in 2012.”

The South Placer Rotary Club is providing coats, hats and other clothing items, as well as a toy for each child and a Christmas stocking. Each family will also receive several gift cards, including a $100 grocery gift card.

Siemens thanked those who contributed, including McDonald’s, Papa Murphy’s Pizza, many individuals and the Rocklin Fire Department, which received donations of coats and toys at three fire stations.
“This is a great community effort with people coming together to give,” Siemens said.
